Raw Material Selection

100% virgin softwood or hardwood pulp is used for manufacturing. Also recyclable fibres can also be used if they follow the food-safety standards. The pulp is free of fluorescent whitening agents for a safe food use.

Further, through mechanical and chemical pulping the wood chips are converted into pulp. It is then washed and screened for the removal of any extra chemical residues. The fibre mix is adjusted to maintain the strength and surface properties.

Refining and Size Press

For a dense, coherent fibre network that successfully and efficiently resist oil penetration, a heavy refining process is carried out. The pulp is thoroughly beaten to target fibre fibrillation and optimal freeness level. Sizing agents or functional additives were added in the pulp mixture or at a size press. This closes the pores and increases the oil and grease resistant property of the paper.

Sheet Forming and Calendaring

A wet web is formed on the paper machine - Fourdrinier. According to the preferred specification, through a controlled system the paper is drained, pressed and partially dried. Through the supercalendaring process the sheet is completely dried. The sheet is polished making it smooth, dense, and less porous.

Optional Coating

• Uncoated - glassine or greaseproof style, the paper is refined through supercalendaring process. A dense, grease-resistant paper that is completely safe for microwave use.
• Wax Coated - synthetic wax or molten paraffin is applied and then cooled. This provides excellent oil/grease resistance and a non-sticky surface which is ideal for fried foods and fish. Depending on the wax but usually the waxed paper is not microwave safe.
• Hot-Melt Coating or PE Extrusion - a thin PE coat is applied to one or both sides of the paper. This gives an enhanced water, grease resistance, and heat-sealable quality. These papers are not microwave safe.

Finishing and Printing

If custom printing is required the surface of the paper is treated with primer or corona. This step ensures print adhesion. According to the needs of the customers pigmented or unpigmented coatings are applied. The inks and coatings both are food-contact safe and don't contain any harmful chemicals or toxins.

Quality Control and Packaging

The finish rolls are then converted into sheets, bags, cones, or liners. Every batch and sheet is tested for quality measurement. Multiple tests like grease resistance, coating uniformity, migration limits, tear-strength, grammage, and odor issues were conducted ensuring every sheet comply with food-safety measurements and certifications. Sanitary and hygienic wrappings are used to pack and store the paper until shipment.
