From Oven To Table - Manufacturing Process

We only select food-grade pulp for the manufacturing of bags for bagels. This pulp is sourced from virgin softwood or hardwood fibres. Recycleable fibres can also be used for manufacturing but only if they are food-safe and comply with all safety regulations. The pulp doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals or fluorescent whiteners. The pulp is washed, screened, and then blended to achieve the required fibre strength.

The pulp is beaten to increase the fibre fibrillation, which creates a strong and reasonable barrier that resists oil and grease. As we offer customized sizes, grammage, and thickness options, we control this manufacturing step to achieve the specifications as indicated by the customers.

Sizing agents like oxidized starch or AKD are added which significantly improves the oil and moisture resistance quality of the paper. These additional additives also enhance barrier performance, printability, and strength. The pulp is formed into a sheet through a gap former paper machine or Fourdrinier. The water is drained and the sheet is partially pressed to remove excess moisture. It is then passed through dry cans which are high pressure rollers to create a dense, smooth, and grease-resistant surface.

The paper can then be coated with PE, or wax. This brings the additional quality of waterproofing and heat sealing. Finally with a primer application that ensures ink adhesion for excellent quality printing. The rolls are then cut into sheets or any preferred shape or size by the customers.
